Don founded The Lesser Law Group in 1999. He has been representing individuals and business of all sizes throughout California in commercial litigation, arbitrations, administrative proceedings and business transactions since 1983. He has represented Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized firms, startups and venture capital and private equity firms in litigation and deals involving a wide range of subject areas including real estate, commercial leasing, shareholder relations and corporate governance, securities fraud, professional liability, trade secrets, licensing, unfair competition, insurance, construction, employment discrimination and wrongful termination and products liability.
Mr. Lesser's trial victories include multi-million dollar commercial leasing dispute in San Francisco in which Mr. Lesser and co-counsel, representing a prominent San Francisco restaurant, prevailed on all claims, obtained an alternative award of terminating sanctions against the opponent, and won a $1.8 million attorney's fees award upheld on appeal.
Mr. Lesser has received Martindale & Hubbell's highest rating for professional competence and ethics, "A-V."
Prior to starting his own firm in 1999, Mr. Lesser was an associate and then a nine-year partner at the San Francisco litigation firm Long & Levit LLP. Before practicing law Mr. Lesser worked on environmental policy issues in the 1978-1982 administration of California Governor Jerry Brown. He received his law degree from the King Hall School of Law at the University of California Davis in 1983 and a degree in Political Science from UCLA in 1978.
